Tech entrepreneur with strong commercialization track record is the key to great success !

Founder

Dr. Xinjie Zhang

Dr. Zhang is an accomplished expert in one-dimensional nanomaterials with over 20 years of industrial R&D experience and a successful track record in technology commercialization. From 1992 to 1996, as a group leader at SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), his work led to establishing the N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) facility at Nanjing Jinlong Chemical Co., Ltd., earning him the ministerial-level Scientific and Technical Progress Award.

From 2000 to 2001, Dr. Zhang served as a Research Fellow at the University of St. Andrews, sponsored by the UK's Royal Society. Between 2001 and 2003, at DOE Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), he developed novel solid acid catalysts, successfully commercialized in 2005.

As a lead scientist at Hyperion Catalysis International (2003–2010), the pioneering company in carbon nanotube commercialization, Dr. Zhang was the first globally to grow single-walled carbon nanotube forests in 2004, ahead of a concurrent Science journal publication. He holds 13 patents and has authored 15 peer-reviewed journal articles.

Currently, Dr. Zhang focuses on large-scale preparation, processing, and commercialization of nanomaterials, particularly multi-walled and single-walled carbon nanotubes. He leads Novarials in commercializing innovative nanowire products and advanced membrane technologies. Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Peking University in 1999.
